Here is a list of definitions to help you understand some of the words used in this website.

**ACCESS - The direct or indirect contacting of a programmed cult member through physical, electronic, or possibly spiritual means; may involve predetermined signals or programmed triggers. (RCM)



**ALTER - A part of the person that is separated by dissociation from the Core identity. (RCM)



**ASTRAL TRAVEL - A sensation of travel accomplished by demonic power, possibly involving spiritual dimensions.(RCM)



**BODY MEMORY - Experiencing the pain or physical sensations again in the body and sometimes the bruises or marks reappear. (RCM)



**CO-DEPENDENCY - The act of adjusting our lives or organizing our lives and behavior around the pain, dysfunctions, and irresponsible choices of others. It is when the co-dependent person allows the inappropriate behavior to continue by pretending it was not real or protecting this behavior by covering it up. (Ed Smith)



**CORDS (Spiritual)- A spiritual tie with demons or other persons (living or dead) that is used by spirits of darkness to maintain occultic stronghold or connections to individuals, or with what is reportedly called the world wide web or network.(RCM)



**CORE - Also called "Authentic Child" or "Primary part; The personality (identity) which is the most directly related to the whole person conceived in the womb; carries the strongest sense of "self".(RCM)



**CULT - An organized group of people devoted to beliefs and goals which are not held by the majority of society, often religious in nature.(RCM)



**DISSOCIATION - This is a split in the conscious process. During intolerable suffering a group of mental activities breaks away from the main stream of consciousness and functions as a separate unit, as though belonging to a separate person.(PBC)



**DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER - This term was previously know as Multiple Personality Disorder. It is the presence of two or more distinct identities or personality states (each with its own relatively enduring pattern of perceiving, relating to, and thinking about the environment and self) within a single person, two of which recurrently take control of the individual's behavior.(RCM)



**FLOODING - A compromising of funtionality through rapid release/surfacing of memories possibly resulting in survivor being overwhelmed and/or suicidal.(RCM)



**HOST - The presenter personality who is most often in executive control of the body. This can change over the course of the individual's life.(RCM)



**LITTLE ONES - These are identities that are very young. They have been brutally abused and/or they can be little parts that help the DID person to play, go to school, etc; not always an abuse part.



**OCCULT - Hidden or secret practices usually involving supernatural powers or a secret knowledge of them.(RCM)



**PROGRAM - A predetermined response pattern deliberately established in a person's mind which occurs automatically when triggered by a distinct stimulus. (RCM)



**SATANIC CULT - An organized group of people with an established belief system involving the direct or indirect worship of Satan and/or demons and the seeking and exercising of occult powers.(RCM)



**SURVIVOR - A person who has been severely abused; a perferred term is "victim".(PBC)



**SWITCH - To change the executive control of the body from one identity to another.(RCM)



**SYSTEM - The entire group of identities (alters, primary parts, and fragments) within an individual who has D.I.D..



**TALK-THROUGH - The process by which a therapist (or other person) is able to address Alters who are not in control of the body or willing to acknowledge their presence but are able to listen to what is being said. (RCM)



**TRIGGER - A song, beeps, rings, etc. that causes a person to respond in a certain way and sometimes causes the start of a program.
